Personally, I don't really like to take medication or give it to my children but sometimes you just have to. And since we don't take medication I am pretty bad about making sure that we take it on the right schedule. I always thought I was the only one that had this problem, but apparently not! Because someone invented the RX Timer Cap!  

The Rx Timer CapTM is a pill bottle with a digital timer on the cap that shows the amount of time it’s been since you’ve last taken your prescription medication. Perfect tool for managing your medicine, the simple timer on the cap works like a stopwatch, counting the time since your medication was last taken, and resetting itself every time the container is opened. This easy and simple-to-use healthcare tool helps patients take medication on-time, according to the doctor’s prescription. Roughly 50% of patients don’t take their medications as directed, which leads to more than 125,000 deaths every year in the United States. It also costs close to $300 billion in increased healthcare costs. A significant factor in patients not taking their meds properly is simple - - forgetfulness. However, patients that use the Timer Cap containers show a 34% improvement in adherence.   


The cap is available at various pharmacies throughout the country (and is being introduced to more on an ongoing basis). Some pharmacies give them away for free for customers enrolled in their auto-refill program - - some offer a free cap for first-time customers and some charge for the cap. It depends on the pharmacy. However, the caps can be purchased via the website (varying prices depending on quantities purchased).


Here's what I think: I really really like this product. It's one of those things that you don't know how you lived without and you really wished you invented. You can either put your medications into bottle or - depending on the size - you can put the RX bottle you got from the pharmacy inside of the RX Timer cap bottle. The screen is really easy to read too.
